It's nice to see it in a drawing, as it's harder to throw it into a story without a lot of further development, since it's generally accepted that she's white. I also had a similar theory, also based on hair that won't lie flat, that Harry could be part Asian on his father's side, perhaps from his maternal grandmother since Potter isn't an Asian name. It seems unlikely that either of these would actually be true in the story, but Rowling does have a tendency to throw in racial characteristics without ever mentioning race. For example, she never says that Cho Chang is Asian, and her name is the only indicator. |
