This is way better than what I do, which is why mine are not posted on here. lol.

So you write and draw both ... impressive. Actually I don't think Charlie necessarily needs to be in the center. I think his position is fine, but I do wish the dragon on the right was all there.

Yes, you're probably right. I think I either need all of both or both to be cut off a bit. Ah well. Live and learn.

Thanks for reviewing!

Hey! I like this - it's a good character portrait. He's not really fighting the dragon - rather, he's maintaining it. However, I would still like a closer view of him.

Thank you! That's exactly what I was trying to show - he's keeping control of the situation, not bringing his own aggression into it. I'd like a closer view too!!

I actually love the asymmetry of this—not that I'm a visual artist or anything, but it seems to me that having Charlie off-center makes him even smaller and gives the whole thing even more of a sense of movement. Thanks for posting it!

(I am worried that poor Charlie is about to get both roasted and flattened, though!)

You may be right about the composition. I'm one of those people who never knows when to stop fiddling with a picture so I have to find something that I don't like!

And of course Charlie isn't going to get roasted or flattened. He knows exactly what he's doing out there. *nods confidently at Charlie*

Thanks for the encouraging review.

Wow, I've never seen anyone depict Charlie before in an original piece. I really like this one a lot.

You continue to amaze! Not only can you write lovely fics, but you can draw too...people and dragons no less!! Kudos to you...

Well, let's see...

I love your dragons and the mottled looking earth--quite nice. You did such a great job of blending your colors. I agree with you that there's a bit too much white space to the left and the top...and I so want to *see* Charlie, because well its *Charlie*(!)...but he's too small to see. If only there was a way to Photoshop and zoom in because seeing our handsome Charlie surrounded by two fearsome dragons would be quite dramatic indeed!!

Overall though, quite lovely, and again kudos for you for even attempting this. If I were to attempt to draw something it would be to draw a miscellaneous tree at the Burrow or something similarly mundane that no one would have any interest in seeing, least of all myself. You, however, take on dragons and Charlie! Amazing, my girl...amazing!

Thank you! Dragons are much easier to draw than people because none of us (except Charlie, ) come face to face with dragons every day so we don't instantly spot when something's wrong. I'm currently struggling with a larger, face on version of Charlie and it's HARD!!

I had lots of fun with the colours on this. I loved the idea of the iridescent Opaleye and the pale blue Shortsnout. Pretty dragons!

Thanks for saying such nice things.

for your first piece of art, i'd say this is better than i would ever be able to do. hmm...it seems a bit blank though, in the top and the left, maybe some mountains or something? or just some general scenery in Romania, i suppose this is where it's taking place, right? all in all, though, i would have to say that this is great!

Thank you!! The blankness was meant to create the illusion of wide, open space, but I agree that it does just look empty. I think it'd work better if I cropped it a bit. But thanks for your encouragement.

I think the purple dragon is really good. The position of the blue dragon's head and it's slim neck are bit awkward, but still way better than I would have done! Cropping some of the blank space out (or filling it with something--a sunset or some trees) might have been good too, but I definitely like how Charlie is so small in the frame especially compared to the dragons. His posture and action are perfect. The ground is very well done--great colors and blending. Nice outing--really!!!

Thank you! Thanks for taking the time to give real constructive criticism - I really appreciate your comments about the blue dragon and the blank space. I wanted to create the effect of a huge area, rather than a confined space, but I think it didn't quite come off. And I'm glad you like the smallness of Charlie - it's partly because I'm not at all confident in drawing people!

Thanks so much for everything you said. I'm glad you liked it.
