Your story seems to be stuck in my head.
I live in southwestern Pennsylvania where deer wander freely through the suburban towns around Pittsburgh. Two nights ago, I was driving down a two-lane road going to a mall near my home when the line of cars I was following came to an abrupt hault. The lead driver seemed uncertain as to what to do and finally drove into the on-coming lane when it was safe. The rest of us followed and as I passed the obstacle I felt very sad at the sight: a full-grown doe was lying in the middle of my lane with her head up and eyes blinking in the blinding headlights of the passing cars, her hindquarters were severly bent out of shape. The look on her face seemed to be, "I'm in pain. I'm scared. Could somebody please help me?" As I drove away, the quick actions of Harry, Hermione, Ron and Ginny from Chapter Three of your story came back to me and I wondered why there couldn't be someone to help this poor doe as quickly and humanely as they did. |

That's the sign of a well written story. I appreciate your comments and reviews. That goes for everyone who's reviewed so far.

What a great mix of the two stories! I look forward to reading more.
I wonder...Merlin and Dumbledore wouldn't be distantly related, would they? |

For as long as I can remember I have loved tales of King Arthur's Court, amongst which "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" is a favorite. You must be channeling Mark Twain a little since I'm enjoying your story so much! Your "test" of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny with the stag was ingenious and certainly made its point. I had to laugh, too, on the fact that it was Harry who tried to satisfy his appetite with the inedible slop instead of Ron. And to think...the foursome is going to get to meet Godric Gryffindor...who would have thunk it?
Please post again soon. This is a terrific story. |
