The Early Years
Now that was a cracker chapter.
Your writing has been getting persistently better from chapter to chapter, Grandma, and this one tops them.
I read what Girlyswot said a while back about 'conflict' and here it is. Quickly-resolved, but poignant.
Your writing has felt a little stilted, and reading your profile I'm thinking that what I'm picking up isn't clumsiness, but a degree of formality in speech that feels thoroughly unfamiliar to my modern mind. I also think that. as you've become more familiar with the characters, with the feel of their lives in your pen hand, you've become much better at giving us something of their richness.
Well done.

Thank you again for your insightful comments.

Indeed, I rather suspect that my writing has to be dragged kicking and screaming into the twenty-first century. I told girlyswot that I always write as though I am giving a lecture or a seminar. Alas, even in the family blog.

I've partially solved my formality of speech by having the next story be full of letters from Hogwarts. I do a wonderful Professor McGonagall and a spot on future 'writer of cauldron bottom reports' Percy.

How unbearably sad that Molly not only has to lose her friend, Lily, but now must lose the memory of her, as well.

Thank you for taking the time to review. Arthur is not really sure what Molly will remember. His Obliviate is "back loaded" so that she won't remember any of the past twenty-four hours but is more likely to keep some of the older memories. His experience is mostly with Muggles who have had an unfortunate experience with magic. Short Term Memory Obliviation is a specialty with him.

Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Yep, this chapter ends on a sad note. But at least toddler Harry had a day to remember.

The next chapter has large sections straight from JK Rowlings.
