Summer Story
Hi I just recently started reading your story. I got to say that I really enjoy it. I like your characterizations of everyone espcially harry and ginny. I really enjoy how harry and ginny's realatonship is going. Poor dumbledore got killed but I am still glad what time harry got to spend with him. The action in this is good to. I like the closeness of family. And the slow friendship between harry and dudley. I am glad that harry got rescused that was a bad situation. I hope the rat and carrow get their just desserts. Hopefully harry can get rid of voldemort soon and be able to get rid of the new things coming to affect which are really awful. Please continue this soon.

This is a good chapter although the topics were depressing. The fact that the Death Eaters are slowly imposing their terrible beliefs on wizarding soceity is very bad. 35 children taken captive is horrible. Everyone is going to have to work together to get rid of Voldemort and his Death Eaters. I'm glad Harry is better and he and Dudley are working together so well even if it is only doing the dishes. Thank you for writing. I look forward to your next update. p

Canon doesn't really give us the extent to which the Death Eaters have created havoc with the wizarding world. We do know what happens to the Ministry building and the Muggle-borns, but the rest of the population suffered, too. I tried to show the state of the Wizarding world and what it must have been like to live in a world ruled by Voldemort and his minions. I imagine it would have been very frightening to live under such a regime.

The other thing I wanted to show in this chapter was the importance of family. Ginny, Ron and Hermione come home for Christmas and so do many of the other Weasley children. It was important to me to show that even in the dark and scary times of the war, the love of family could erase some of the damage done by the Death Eaters and Voldemort.

Thanks for your thoughtful review.

I really enjoy your chapters that provide details about what is happening. Using Ginny's point of view added to the tone of this chapter.

What you have done to show us another side of Dudley is brilliant. It is refreshing to read about his friendship with Harry and his 'other family'.

One of the things I felt was missing from DH was more detail about what was happening to the everyday witches and wizards, We knew about the Ministry workers and the Muggle-borns and the Taboo, but we didn't know the nitty-gritty details about what life was like because Harry, Ron and Hermione remained relatively safe in their own little world. Therefore, I took what clues we had from canon and did some further research upon which I then based the goings-on in this chapter.

I'm glad you like the new Dudley. Imagining how he would react to and interact with the Weasleys was a lot of fun to write.

Thanks for reviewing. Arnel

Thanks for the update! I like the image of Harry and Dudley doing the dishes, and Harry refusing to admit he wasn't "fine." Heh.

I'm curious about the Half-born registration though. I thought the vast majority of the Wizarding world were Halfbloods. If theDEs and new Ministry were taking all the Half-bloods wands away, in addition to the Muggleborns, there wouldn't be too many left, right?

Your Author's Note said you added three more chapters to give more detail. It sounded like you were apologizing, but I just wanted to say I was thrilled! I love the little details.

Thanks for the review, Melinda. I'll start with the Author's Note first. In a way, I am apologizing to my readers. When I started this project, I had envisioned an alternating of Harry and Ginny point of view chapters: Harry would get the odd numbered chapters, Ginny would get the even numbered ones. I've had a few readers comment on the fact that I'm not sticking to that pattern, so I wanted to appease those nay-sayers who like the Harry chapters more than the Ginny chapters.

I struggled with the concept of having ALL the Half-bloods register and lose their wands. Finally, I decided that as with Mr Weasley's legislation on charmed Muggle objects, there were probably loopholes that selected Half-bloods might fall through, thus still retaining their wands even though they'd been branded. In the end, as Harry states, asking the Half-bloods to register was just a device to try to catch Harry.

Finally, I'm glad you like how Harry and Dudley are contributing to the daily upkeep of the Burrow... even if Harry does employ a phrase that nobody really believes.

I look forward to your next review.
