The ceremony had been simple--just a garden wedding at the home of
her parents. She and her love had been together for only twenty-one
months before that, but in all honesty, when anyone really thought
about it, they had been together since the end of his sixth year at
Hogwarts. He might have broken up with her when he started out to
destroy the Horcruxes that Voldemort had made, but she never really let
him out of her heart. She was his, through and through--and she made
certain that he knew that before he struck out on his own with Ron and
Hermione.
It had been at her brother Bill's wedding to that
incredibly rude French woman. The woman Ginny had never much cared for,
but was learning to "leeve" with since Bill seemed so in love with her.
After all, if her mother could make a concerted effort to like her, she
supposed she could too.
She had cornered the man who would
become her husband in, of all places, the kitchen. She knew he had been
avoiding her since he arrived at her house. She found him sitting at
the table, alone, as the party following Bill and Fleur's wedding was
in full swing. He was deep in thought, and he didn't even raise his
eyes when she entered the room.

She cleared
her throat in order to make him aware of her presence. He looked up
quickly, and a small scarlet blush rose onto his cheeks. "Ginny," he
said. "I don't know if it's a good idea for us to be together, I mean--"
Ginny looked Harry in the eye and spoke the words she knew he would dread to hear, "Harry, why are you avoiding me?"
He
mumbled something incoherently and she, being resolute as always, said,
"What, Harry? I can't understand you. Tell me why, of all people, you
are avoiding me?"
"Because, Ginny, if I don't avoid you, I'll likely snog you senseless and put you in danger."
"You're
being silly, Harry. I'll always be in danger, just because I'm a
Weasley. Being associated with you won't hurt me any more."
"I just can't take the risk, Ginny."
"I
know; it's that bloody nobility trait you have. I just want you to
know," she said as she stepped close enough to touch him, "that I'll
always be your girl, Harry. No matter what. No matter if you go off and
leave me behind. No matter that you broke up with me. I will always be
your girl. And you better come back for me when this is all said and
done."
"I can't make any promises, Ginny," he stammered.
"I know you can't. But just know, when you've destroyed Tom, I'll be here. Waiting."
*~*~*
Twenty-one
months to the day he came back, they were married. And now, twenty-one
months after that, they were awaiting the birth of their first child. A
girl, according to the Healer. A girl that they would name Lily Ginevra.

A/N: This was written for the hpgw_otp LJ Community's
Number Challenge. It was to be between 200 and 700 words and center
around the number chosen. And as you can tell, I chose twenty-one and
this is actually one of two stories written using the number. Thanks
always to Julie, who is my wonderful beta, but more importantly, a
wonderful friend. *smooches*
